Essential oils have been used for thousands of years for their therapeutic and healing properties as part of the practice of aromatherapy. They are obtained from leaves, stems or roots of plants that are known for their healthy properties. So, what is the incense essential oil?

Incense, sometimes known as olibanum, is a common type of essential oil used in aromatherapy that can offer a variety of health benefits, such as helping to relieve stress and chronic anxiety, reducing pain and inflammation and increasing the immunity. What Is Frankincense Essential Oil? 

The incense oil is of the genus Boswellia and comes from the resin of Boswellia carterii or Boswellia sacra tree that is commonly grown in Somalia. This tree is different from many others because it can grow with very little soil in dry and desolate conditions.

The word incense comes from the term “franco encens”, which means quality incense in ancient French. Incense has been associated with many different religions over the years, especially the Christian religion, since it was one of the first gifts that the wise men gave to Jesus.

Boswellia serrata is a tree native to India that produces special compounds that have been shown to have strong anti-inflammatory and potentially anticancer effects. Among the valuable extracts of boswellia trees that researchers have identified, several stand out as the most beneficial, including terpenes and boswellic acids, which are strongly anti-inflammatory and protective on healthy cells. 

Incense oil is used by inhaling the oil or absorbing it through the skin, usually mixed with a carrier oil, such as coconut oil or jojoba oil. It is believed that the oil transmits messages to the limbic system of the brain, which is known to influence the nervous system. A little oil is good for a lot and should not be ingested in large quantities, as it can be toxic.

If you are buying essential oils, avoid oils that say “fragrance oil” or “perfume oil” because they can be synthetic and do not provide the desired health benefits. Instead, look for oils that say “pure essential oil” or “100% essential oil” for essential oils of the highest quality.
